THE MASTER WEAVERS PLAN

When you don't understand why something is happening to you... this quote may help. It is one of my very favorites.

"My life has been a weaving
 between my God and me.
I do not choose the colors,
 he worketh steadily.

 Often times he weaveth sorrow
 and I in foolish pride
forget he sees the upper,
 and I the underside.

Not til the loom is silent
and the loom cease to fly
 will God unroll the canvas
 and explain the reasons why.

The dark threads are as needful
 in the skillful weavers hands
as the threads of gold and silver
in the pattern he has planned."

-Unknown author quoted by Elder Maxwell

I probably just like this quote because I'm a sewing nerd... Haha but I love the visual this story gives. It just makes me realize that there will be hard times but they are an important part to make us who we are and to have a successful life in the end. It always reminds me to keep faith because he knows what he is doing. :)

These are photos of a beautiful cross stitch give to my mother by a close friend. I couldn't get a picture of the underside but I am sure it is not nearly as beautiful!

PEACHY KEEN

One day I found a dress at Cotton On that I LOVED. The lace fabric had a good pattern and it was one of my favorite colors, peach. The problem was that it was pretty short, sleeveless and too low cut for my liking...

But I bought it anyway! I was determined to fix it to fit me better. I bought two dresses because it was the only way to get matching fabric. So heres what I did:
  • Shortened the straps to make the neck higher (after this it was super short)
  • Sewed on lace cap sleeves
  • Added a strap of fabric to the middle section of the dress to elongate the torso and make the dress longer
  • Added a layer of lace beneath the original skirt to make it longer

It was quite a bit of work but I am really glad I did it now because it is one of my favorite dresses! I got some of my senior pictures taken in it.

SENIOR COTILLION

For my Senior Cotillion dance I found a dress at Charlotte Russe that I loved! It was white lace with a sweetheart neckline and mesh sleeves, I have always wanted a dress with sleeves like that.

But was it was wayyy too short, almost showing my bum. Also the back was really open and I couldn't wear a bra without it showing, tacky right? So because it wasn't very expensive for a dance dress, I bought two of the same dress. I did this so I had the exact same fabric to alter the one dress to fit me better.

So I cut the bottom off of one dress and sewed it to the bottom of the other to make it longer.

Then I used the rest of the plain white fabric to make bows to cover my back, the middle one covered my bra.

 And Wa la!

And these are my 4 beautiful best friends!
And it was the best Senior Cotillion ever :)
